We are finally going to Comic Con in San Diego, I'm a little excited(OK, I'm freaking excited). Anyway I asked my daughter if she wanted to dress up months ago and she couldn't decide. Then the game came out and that was it, Steampunk Alice. But me being me I wanted to upcycle the costume..
She had the boots already and I did order the tights and buckles($7). The dress base, the ruffles(came off a skirt I loved the color), and the corset(a pillow case) I thrifted. $6, $1.50, $.50. The grommets, ribbon, studs, and anything else... I had on hand. So all together it cost about $15.
The dress started out as a one piece cocktail dress but I wanted it to be 2 pieces that way she was more comfortable and could separate the pieces if she wanted to wear them that way later. I thought I'd have more salvage from the dress to make the sleeves, but I had to dig through my stash to find something that matched.
Ok... I'm done talking now...
I gave my teenager a large knife! Yikes!
