newsboy hat from whitney sews...

90's style...
hahaha, i've been watching my so called life on netflix lately... and been getting inspired by rayanne graff (aj langer)...

so i made a few tweaks to the pattern...
i made the main pieces longer (maybe a little too much longer... oh well...)
i gathered the bottom of the main piece before sewing on the hat band... because there was a lot of extra fabric... it didn't look right to pleat it like the video suggests...

and i used a piece of plastic from a report cover for the insert...

my recommendation--DON'T do the insert that way... do it just like whitney suggests...

kind of bad lighting, the sun was shining on it funny... but you can see the little self-button i put on top:


and me in the hat (wearing it backwards, which is the only way it looks normal, lol)


hahaha, it's made from an upcycled wool skirt that i felted a while ago... it made my hands soooo sweaty and hot, lol...
i won't be wearing it anytime soon... but it'll be good in the cold winter...
